God Doesn't Owe Us an Explanation

Have you ever found yourself asking God, "Why?"
Why didn't I get the job?
Why did that relationship end?
Why am I still waiting?
Why did this happen when I prayed so faithfully?
If we're honest, most of us have asked those questions at some point in our walk with Christ. We long for answers because explanations make disappointment easier to accept. We want to understand what God is doing before we're willing to trust where He's leading.
But God never promised to explain every decision He makes.
Sometimes He simply asks us to trust Him.
That can be one of the hardest lessons to learn as believers. We often want the full picture before taking the next step. We want every question answered before we surrender our plans. Yet faith has never been about knowing everything. It has always been about trusting the One who does.
Throughout Scripture, we see people who didn't receive the explanations they longed for.
Joseph couldn't understand why he was betrayed by his own brothers before God raised him to save a nation. Moses didn't know why he had to spend forty years in the wilderness before God called him to lead Israel. Job never received a detailed explanation for all of his suffering, yet he discovered that God's presence was greater than the answers he was seeking.
Their stories remind us that God is always working, even when we cannot see what He's doing.
The same is true in our lives.
Sometimes what feels like a closed door is God's protection.
Sometimes what feels like a delay is His preparation.
Sometimes what feels like disappointment is actually divine redirection.
Our perspective is limited to today, but God's perspective stretches into eternity. He sees what we cannot. He knows what tomorrow holds before we even take our next breath.
Isaiah reminds us that God's thoughts and His ways are far higher than ours. That doesn't mean He is distant or uncaring. It means His wisdom reaches beyond our understanding, and His plans are always rooted in His perfect love.
Trust begins to grow when we stop demanding explanations and start resting in God's character. He has already proven His faithfulness throughout Scripture. He has already demonstrated His love through Jesus Christ. If we can trust Him with our eternity, we can trust Him with today's unanswered questions.
Maybe you're still waiting for an answer. Maybe you're carrying questions that seem to have no explanation. Don't allow the absence of answers to weaken your faith. Instead, let it strengthen your dependence on the One who knows the end from the beginning.
One day you may look back and realize that what felt confusing was actually God protecting you, preparing you, or leading you somewhere you never could have imagined.
Until then, keep trusting Him.
