The Sin We Excuse Because Everyone Else Does It

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..." — Romans 12:2 (KJV)
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to become comfortable with things that once made you uncomfortable?
Not because God's Word changed.
But because the culture around you did.
Little by little, what was once considered sinful becomes acceptable. Before long, we stop asking whether something honors God and start asking whether everyone else is doing it.
That's a dangerous place for a believer.
The world has a way of making sin look normal.
Gossip becomes "just conversation."
Pride becomes "self-confidence."
Greed becomes "success."
Bitterness becomes "protecting my peace."
Crude jokes become "just having fun."
When enough people accept something, it no longer feels wrong.
But God's standard has never been based on popularity.
Romans 12:2 reminds us not to conform to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. That means our opinions, values, and decisions should be shaped by God's Word, not by whatever society happens to celebrate.
As followers of Christ, we have to be careful not to let repeated exposure dull our spiritual sensitivity.
The more we justify what God calls sin, the easier it becomes to ignore His conviction.
That doesn't mean we should walk around judging everyone else.
It means we should regularly examine our own hearts.
Ask yourself:
Have I started accepting attitudes, habits, or conversations simply because they've become common?
Have I allowed culture to influence my convictions more than Scripture?
God isn't calling us to blend in.
He's calling us to be set apart.
Living differently won't always be popular.
Sometimes it will even make you uncomfortable.
But our goal has never been to please the world.
Our goal is to please Christ.
Following Jesus means allowing His truth to shape our lives, even when it goes against what everyone else considers normal.
The world will continue to change.
God's truth never will.
