When Your Feelings Disagree with God's Word

When Your Feelings Disagree with God's Word

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."Proverbs 3:5

Have you ever known what God's Word says but struggled because your feelings were telling you something completely different?

You're not alone.

Our feelings are real.

They can be powerful.

They can even help us recognize what's happening in our hearts.

But they were never meant to become our compass.

Feelings change.

God's truth does not.

Some days we don't feel forgiven.

Some days we don't feel loved.

Some days we don't feel like praying, forgiving, serving, or trusting God.

If we allow our emotions to determine our obedience, our faith will rise and fall with every circumstance.

That's why Scripture continually points us back to God's truth instead of our emotions.

Think about Joseph.

His circumstances could have convinced him that God had abandoned him.

Think about David.

He often poured out his emotions before God, yet he continually chose to trust God's promises.

Even Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, expressed the weight of what He was about to face. Yet He ultimately surrendered His will to the Father's.

Faith isn't pretending feelings don't exist.

Faith is choosing to obey God even when our emotions tell us otherwise.

There will be days when forgiveness doesn't feel fair.

There will be days when trusting God doesn't make sense.

There will be days when fear feels louder than faith.

In those moments, we have a choice.

Will we let our feelings lead us?

Or will we allow God's Word to have the final say?

Our emotions are temporary.

God's promises are eternal.

When our feelings and God's truth seem to collide, His Word is always the safest place to stand.
